The Salvation Army Children’s Services invites you in providing critical services to foster and adoptive children by participating in the Care4Kids Campaign. Your support will enable us to continue providing
caring and compassionate services to children suffering the trauma of abuse, neglect and severe family distress.
The Salvation Army began caring for children in 1912 with the Philadelphia orphanage “Ivy House”. Now, 100 years later, we continue our mission of providing for the temporary protection, support and nurturing of children in need of temporary foster homes and permanent adoptive families.
We rely on support from caring individuals like you so we can continue to help rebuild shattered lives and provide hope and strength to foster and adopted children and their families.
Sign up today to run, walk or volunteer at our Rock N’ Run 4 Kids 10K, 5K & Fun Run and help the foster care cause by seeking donation support from friends, coworkers and loved ones. You can make a difference!

The Steinruck family, a foster family with The Salvation Army Children’s Services, welcomed Gabriel into their hearts and their home in June 2014. They understood the reality of caring for a child in foster care, and that Gabriel could return to his birth family at any point. With this in mind, they also knew that there was no other option than to love him with a vulnerable heart, willing to be broken apart for him. They continued to give him unconditional love without knowing if they would be his forever family someday. As time passed, Matt and Megan realized that the possibility of Gabriel becoming a permanent part of their family would become a reality.
On March 28th, 2016, the courtroom was filled with 56 of Gabriel’s biggest fans, as he was adopted. There was no shortage of smiles or tears of joy as Gabriel hit the judge’s mallet to finalize his adoption.
The Steinrucks emphasize that parental love has little to do with biology, as they offer endless love for Gabriel. At the adoption, Megan held a sign that read, “The adoption took time. 654 days, 22 hours, 30 minutes, but the love arrived instantly.” The Steinruck’s opened their home and their hearts to Gabriel, their now son, and are a true testament that "With Family, Anything is Possible."
